Our top tips for refurbishing your bathroom

It’s that time of the year when we are thinking of giving our shower room a face lift as the winter is slowly reaching it’s end to welcome spring! Sometimes you don’t need to do a full makeover as one change could change the look of your bathroom to give it a different feel altogether.

If you are playing with ideas or you just need tips on changing the look of your bathroom, we have put together a few ideas for you to read:

  • Heated Mirrors

Heated mirrors are a good idea as they stop misting when you are in the shower which is great for us girls especially when we can get out of the shower and get straight into putting on our make up. For men, this means that you can get on with your shaving without having to wait for your mirror to clear.

Talk to us 01727 730590 if you would like us to come and install this for you.

  • Tiles

Bathroom tiles are the first thing that is noticed as soon as you walk into your bathroom, it can completely change the look and feel of things, bright tiles will make you bathroom look bigger than it really is, darker tiles will give is a warmer look and patterned tiles will give it some character and a fun look. Before you make a final decision on your tiles, have a plan for example, your price range; marble, mosaic and porcelain tiles will cost more. We are happy to give you advice if you have any questions.

  • Contingency Plan

Always allow some sort of contingency plan in the event of unexpected problem as they sometimes happen.

  • Planning

It is always a good idea to carry out a bathroom plan before the project starts and share it with your fitter making sure that you include the standard that you are expecting for each for each item. If you need a bathroom fitter please contact us for a free no obligation quote.

  • Furniture

Choosing furniture for your bathroom can be very exciting, from colours, to lighting, to flooring etc. Once you have a theme in mind, you can use that as a starting point and go from there.

Tip: Remember that wall hung furniture takes more time to fit than floor standing furniture, this can be considered if you are looking to get things changed on a lower budget.

  • Lighting

Think about your lighting. Remember that putting a light above the mirror casts an unflattering light on your face. Having lights at each side of the mirror might be better.

  • Prep

Before work starts, you should move all your breakables, artwork, ceramics and anything that you want to keep dust free is moved as far away as possible. Your plumber will cover the floor properly before starting work but be aware that dust will get everywhere no matter how hard you try.

  • Ideas

If you see photos of bathrooms you like, show your plumber this beforehand so he can have an idea of what you have in mind. It might be possible to include some extra bits and bobs which will make a big difference to the look.
